Families are dynamic and diverse naturally, but when there are children with very different needs, leaving parents with little support or guidance to deal with this challenging job.
Often, children are faced with emotional challenges long before they are developmentally capable of fully understanding and thinking through situations they face. I feel I am uniquely qualified to join parents in finding creative ways to keep kids on a positive path, or to find it again after challenging times. In my classrooms I have worked directly with children with autism and other developmental difficulties, children who are very bright, and children who just need a little help navigating and managing their thinking after emotionally tough situations.
In my practice, I am clear about when counseling is necessary. I am here to support and guide parents to create an environment that will allow their children to thrive. When the situation arises I will be the first to refer parents to therapist or Psychologist to further assist the family be supported. Note: The difference between counseling/therapy and coaching is that therapists need to be experts trained in helping people process and resolve trauma. Coaching deals more with ideals, values and developmental issues through Appreciative Inquiry. You may or may not have had trauma in your life, but if the trauma is unresolved, coaching questions will probably guide you to therapy. Ultimately, coaching will lead you to getting your needs met in a deep, meaningful way.
